My top ten healthy cafes in Sydney
When it comes to eating out, I love nothing more than going to a healthy cafe!
Whether it be breakfast, brunch or lunch we are absolutely spoilt for choice in Sydney when it comes to cafes serving up a healthy fare.
So in today’s post I’ve done the hard yards for you! I’ve shared my top ten healthy cafes in Sydney, and all you need to do now, is go and try them out! Yes I know, THANK YOU.
1. Bread & Circus
Bread & Circus will always hold a special place in my heart as it was my first true wholefoods cafe experience. Back when most Sydneysiders hadn’t even put Alexandria on the map, Bread & Circus was pumping out the most spectacular wholefoods spread. I can honestly say that I’ve never had a meal here that I didn’t LOVE, and I will pretty much order anything and everything on their menu….now that is saying something! For a truly nourishing (and instagram worthy ;)) meal Bread & Circus goes to the top of my healthy cafe list.
Must try dish – Breakfast – Parmesan not-so-scrambled eggs, Lunch- The daily salad plates with a side of haloumi and a Something Green Juice.
Alexandria – www.breadandcircus.com.au
2. Henley’s wholefoods
Since Henley’s arrived on the block in 2014, it has become quite the popular hangout for Sydney’s healthy foodies! Henley’s is building quite the healthy empire, expanding from their original Bondi Junction cafe to open a second and third cafe in Alexandria and Double Bay this year. Serving predominantly organic and paleo-inspired dishes their menu makes for some difficult decisions for this health foodie (often ending in food-envy).
Must try dish – Ella’s Omega Eggs if you’re after the healthy breakfast option, or the Maca Packed Hotcakes if you want to indulge!
Alexandria & Bondi Junction – www.henleyswholefoods.com.au
3. Porch and Parlour
No Bronte to Bondi walk is complete without stopping past Porch and Parlour (or Porch as the locals like to call it), This cute little hole in the wall cafe (recently expanded due to its popularity) is a healthy foodies paradise, the menu is superb and the views are equally as stunning. The perfect post-yoga/walk/run refuel stop.
Must try dish – Green Pea Pancake and Green Breaky Bowl

4. Sadhana Kitchen
If you’re after a power packed raw, organic, and vegan meal that actually tastes AMAZING then Sadhana Kitchen is the place to be! Health foodies flock to the Inner West to sample Sadhana’s delicious raw vegan treats! Everything from Raw Tacos to their signature wagon wheel Cocowhip! Yes you heard right! 5. Sprout Wholefoods
I visited Sprout Wholefoods recently on the recommendation of a good friend and I LOVED it.This cute cafe is just off the main road as you turn into Willoughby and boast an incredible menu and huge bonus points of an outdoor playground for the kiddies! I know as Emma gets a little older, this is where mummy will be going to get her foodie fix!
Must try dish – Superfood me kelp noodle salad and Miso smoked trout bowl
Willoughby – www.sproutwholefood.com.au
6. About Life
If you asked me to describe About Life, I would have to say that it is my Mecca. About Life is the perfect pit stop for a healthy meal and a side of health food shopping ;). Since opening the popular Double Bay store late last year which features a wholefoods buffet, bulk frozen meals and a healthy cafe it seems About Lifes’ other stores in Rozelle, Bondi Junction and the newly opened Surry Hills has all followed suit continuing this popular dining concept. About Life would have to be one of my favourite places for quick and convenient health food on the go, with a side of shopping!
Must try dish – The vegan vibe burger and the build your own salad bar
Double Bay, Bondi Junction, Rozelle and Surry Hills – www.aboutlife.com.au
One of the few places that serves up healthy wholefoods meal in the Sydney CBD, Thr1ve’s arrival to the Westfield food court heralded a long overdue cheer from the corporate healthies. Thr1ve boasts and amazing wholefoods menu with a slight paleo slant so even when you’re back in the 9-5 grind you can still get your bone broth, bullet proof coffee or zoodle fix!
Must try dish – Thr1ve lunch bowl and Monkey Fuel smoothie
Westfield Sydney & MLC Centre – www.thr1ve.com.au
8. the boathouse palm beach
As far as breakfast vistas go, this has to be one of my favourites! Just the location itself is enough to make you feel like you’re on holiday (or an extra on Home and Away). This cafe oozes health from the doorstep with beautiful fresh fruit and flowers displayed in the entrance. If you weren’t already chilled enough after escaping the hustle and bustle of the city, one of my favourite things about this cafe is that you can set up a picnic rug and enjoy your brunch alfresco.
Must try dish – Market fruit plate
Palm Beach – www.theboathousepb.com.au
9. The Grounds
The Grounds has become a foodie institution in Sydney. So much so, that I heard recently that it is the most instagrammed cafe in the whole of Australia! Every last detail has been thought about in terms of the overall customer experience, and the food doesn’t do too badly either ;). Whether it’s breakfast, brunch or lunch this place always draws a crowd! So order yourself a takeaway juice or coffee, enjoy the grounds no pun intended while you await a delicious nourishing meal.
Must try dish – I can’t go past the breakfast board! Filled with all of my favourite things.

10. the coffee shop next door
A relatively new kid on the block, The Coffee Shop Next Door in Manly is your go to for all things organic, vegan and raw. Stocking some of my all time favourite wholefood brands like Inside Out Almond Milk, Spring Wellness sprouted bread and Orchard St juices, this little cafe has become quite a new favourite for me when I’m over in Manly.
Must try dish – I can’t go past The Green Goat – Avocado, goats cheese, sprouts, seeds and lemon on gluten free sprouted loaf
Manly – www.theshopnextdoor.com.au
So how did I go? Did I capture some of your favourites, or are there a few new little wholefood gems for you to try out this weekend? If I’ve left out your favourite foodie hang, let me know in the comments below and I’ll add it to the list.
