Five simple steps to help your life FLOW everyday……
How would you feel if you ‘threw caution to the wind?’If you stopped doing and started being and just let life flow?
I tell you how you’d feel….pretty bloody AWESOME!
You see for many (myself included) what stops us from creating flow in our lives and living the lives that we dream of and deserve sits between our ears…yep that little bit of grey matter…OUR MINDS
Now don’t get me wrong our minds are incredible, but we simply don’t use them to their potential.We get so caught up in the ‘noise’ of everyday and we fill our minds with ‘stuff’…
We torture ourselves by replaying the same old negative thought patterns…(yes you know the one….I’m not smart, pretty, successful, skinny enough….) and so we miss the magic of the present, what is happening to us right here and right now….because we’re too busy listening to the chatter, chatter, chatter of our minds.
We get in our OWN WAY and stop the flow!
For me getting out of my head (or at least turning the volume down on my self talk) and letting life flow is quite a scary proposition…I’ve programmed myself to have the same thought patterns for over 20 years…These ‘negative records’ are now classics…I know them off by heart.
But in order to FLOW….we must first change our thought patterns..we have to start creating new ones and….TRUST that the universe has our back!
Five steps to help your life FLOW everyday……
1. Take time to connect….
Listen to what your body is telling you. How are you feeling, what are the clues you need to tune in to?
Your body is always giving you signs of what is really needs….take the time to check in with yourself
2. Set your intention….
Something that I am starting to learn more and more each day, is the power of intention! By setting your intention, and declaring it to the universe it can have a profound impact on how your day and your life unfolds.Nothing in your external environment needs to change, but if you set your mind and your intention to how you want to feel you’ll begin to attract this into your life
3. Get out of your head….
Begin to catch yourself when you are ‘in your head’ and replaying the old thought patterns…Ask yourself, ‘Is this even true?’ or am I just telling myself the same story? If it’s not true then brush it off and create the thought pattern that you want…We can only focus on one conscious thought at a time….make it a positive one!
Our breath brings us instantly back to the present moment…out of our heads and back to flow….Ask anyone who practises yoga or meditates frequently and they’ll tell you how amazing they feel after they have practiced. It’s because they are fully aware and in the present moment. Set your phone or your work computer to take a few minutes each day to just sit quietly and focus on your breath
5. Practice living in the NOW….
Starting now become conscious of what takes you away from the present moment…is it your mind or is it something else (I know for me my phone or social media does this a lot!). Just like the negative self talk start catching yourself and bringing yourself back into the present moment at every opportunity….
